EuroGEO Marine & Coastal Action Group workshop

bannerbanner
The EuroGEO Marine and Coastal Action Group, led by GEO Blue Planet and GEO AquaWatch EU offices, is dedicated to closing the gap between Earth Observation (EO) data and intelligence for marine and coastal decision-making. This workshop convenes stakeholders from EU projects and initiatives engaged in the data-to-intelligence framework to co-design strategies that transform raw data into meaningful information and knowledge, ensuring alignment with key EU priorities such as the European Green Deal, the Digital Twin of the Ocean, and the European Ocean Pact.
Come join us for this exciting workshop! We will be working on building together the EuroGEO Marine & Coastal Action Group, to foster collaboration within European projects to ensure their legacy and to be part of a European momentum on how observations can help to improve coastal resilience and solve ocean-related issues.
When ?
The workshop will be taking place from 6 to 7 of July 2026.

Our objectives are to:
  • Showcase practical approaches already driving Earth Observation uptake, sustainability, and informed governance across Europe’s marine and coastal domains.
  • Collaboratively identify gaps and needs to strengthen and ensure sustainability of data-driven decision-making and design strategies that enable EU groups to share knowledge, leverage networks, and maximize impact.
Together, we aim to accelerate Earth Observation integration into policy and operations and foster synergies among EU-funded projects to deliver actionable intelligence for ocean health, resilience, and the sustainable blue economy.

What to expect?

This 1.5-day workshop will bring together partners from identified EU projects and initiatives working within the ocean and coastal data-to-intelligence framework. Around 30 participants are expected, including project coordinators and leaders of dissemination and user uptake work packages.
The program will include:
  • Day 1: A plenary session where projects present their approaches and key findings—focused on the data-to-intelligence framework rather than technical details.
  • Day 2: Guided discussions to identify gaps, needs, and actionable next steps to strengthen data-to-intelligence strategies. Informal networking will be an integral part of the event, with coffee breaks, an on-site lunch, and a social gathering at the end of the first day to foster collaboration and exchange.
